Bread and fish
digital performance, Second Life, 2010

Second Life is an online 3D virtual world (not game), where users create virtual representations of
themselves, called avatars, who are able to interact with other avatars, places or objects.
They can explore the world (known as the grid), meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, build, create, shop and trade virtual property and services with one another.
This performance is a recontextualization of a biblical story, where Jesus multiplied bread and fish for the hungry crowd. The wish to create more from less and share it with the needy is losing its meaning in a virtual space. Even the Second Life simulator deleted the fish and bread his avatar, Kakukkfu, created on the ground after just a few minutes, because the action overwhelmed its servers.
